Children’s Haircuts: Making Salon Visits Easier for Everyone
For some children, a haircut is exciting. For others, it can feel unfamiliar, noisy or overwhelming. A few simple steps can make the experience much easier for everyone.
Choose the right time
If possible, avoid booking when your child is already tired, hungry or close to nap time. Even a great haircut feels harder when they’re at the end of their patience.
Keep expectations simple
Before the appointment, explain what will happen: sit in the chair, wear a cape, hear scissors, then have a quick tidy-up. Short, calm explanations usually work better than a big build-up.
Bring comfort items if needed
A favourite toy, book or tablet can help younger children feel more settled, especially for first visits.
Celebrate the win, not perfection
The goal isn’t a perfectly still child and a haircut worthy of kids Vogue (although we’ll certainly try!), it’s a positive experience. If they leave feeling comfortable about coming back next time, that’s a success.
At Raire Hairdressing Company, we welcome children and aim to keep appointments relaxed, patient and friendly for both parents and younger clients.
